Well someone got a nice project.
Manx rear wheel. Facinating timing cover & crancases. Lots of nice parts. I put a couple of bids in 8 grand on this & £1600 On one of the engines. Close but no cigar.

I like the engine stand made from a rotating mill vise. That's cool.

I know that it may be just because it's black but that timing cover doesn't appear to allow for a cam chain or oil pump?
Wonder where the crankcases came from - no timing side rear "protrusion".
The combination of these two doesn't look very "Norton" to me.

That cam looks like it’s still in the right place to me. I’d like to know what the big blue access plates are for though…

It looks like it's still there, but well removed redundant sections & converted to crank triggered ignition? by John Turner according to the bottom of the engine.

Sold for £8,600

I don't think it is engine speed 'crank triggered'. My guess is that the trigger mechanism has been moved to the intermediate gear so that it still runs at half engine speed, but doesn't have the timing chain tension and variability to deal with. You can see the trigger output cable. The forward blue plate seems to just be a cover for the empty points plate/pick up trigger hole.

I would also guess that the breather is by G50 flap valve on the crank drive side, which was quite common on Nortons in the 1970s.
