A while back I queried the forum for suggestions on different vendors. I promised feedback, but the thread was in the old "Other Classic Bikes" thread which has since been closed.
Anyhow, I ended up sending the unit to Joel Levine, outside of Atlanta, and Joel rebuilt it and had it back to me in about 2 weeks for $250.
The unit looks brand new, and after finally getting around to installing it, a new cable and a new drive, am happy to say it works perfectly. I've only put 40-50 miles on it, but so far so good. I did some casual calibration in local traffic, and it seems to be as accurate as I'll need it to be. Problem is now my tach looks like the 47 year old gauge that it is- I may have to send that off to get freshened up...

Thanks for the feedback. Would you give us Joel's complete contact info?

Is your speed chronometric? Do you know if Joel rebuilds chronos?

Just another guy and at least $75 cheaper..Mark Bohman 513-367-6402 in Ohio....His prices are also not to be beaten...He repairs magnetic and chronometric instruments and his service is great..Quick turn around...It's really refreshing to add another honest person to the list of suppliers I deal with on these bikes..

+1 on Joel.

My turn around time from the day I sent my tach and speedo to when I received them back was 10 days. Spotless gauges all the way down to the factory number tag/sticker on the backside of the gauge. I suggest giving Joel a call before you send him anything. He is great with answering questions.

While there have been recent negative reports on Joel, my personal experience was 100% satisfaction on over 40 meters in the space of ten years. Last one was back in 2012 i think...

I just had SMITHS Instrument repair here in Illinois do a commando speedo for me. Scott Thomas, owner has done several gauges for me over the years. He did a Vaglia conversion for me from KPH to MPH for one of my Italian singles and he added a tripmeter for me.. He can also save your mileage numbers upon request with an overhaul.
Call 224-595-2037 or email scott@flatlandcycles.com. If your a norton club member you get a club discount too.
