Hello to all. A new member here from April 18th, 2020. I've already gotten some good help from members here on the forum. My thanks to them. I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself and my project. I'm retired with time on my hands and got talked into doing a full restoration on a 1964 Atlas. I owned the same model back in the sixties so this is like a time travel trip for me. So far it's been fun. Thanks for your time.

Good luck with your project. The old featherbeds are a real blast to ride.

Some of the parts after takedown. And the first stages of putting her back together.

Your rear brake activating arm maybe the wrong way round, both my 650SS and Atlas point upwards.

Yes, same here. I know earlier bikes point down. Not sure when it changed. Maybe with switch to the narrow line featherbed.

No, your both on the money on that detail. The lever hasn't been fitted yet. The 1st image of the bike before disassembly shows it in the correct position. Thanks for the heads-up.

Maybe it's the age, but I don't remember there being this many parts when I disassembled these guys!

Looking great, what sort of paint did you use, did you spray yourself?

How nice I am at the end of my renovation of a Norton Atlas -64. I bought it about 5 years ago.

I had a local paint shop (PPG dealer) mix up a batch according to a formula that was given to me by Texas Slick. Expensive, but it came out "smashing". It just occurred to me that I haven't posted any pics of the red tank yet. I'll have to get some and do that. The frame and all the misc. parts were refinished in a local shop here in Fayetteville NC.

Hi, I do not have many pictures and find it difficult to upload pictures (not so good at computers). But I will try to upload the pictures I have.
I have owned the bike for about 4 years, rode it for 2 years and then started to renovate it. This is my first complete renovation, I have ridden motocross and enduro for many years and worked on these bikes.

Atlas Nuts and Bolts. I am having a problem with parts that are missing or were cobbled by actions from previous owners.
1. The gearbox bottom mounting bolt assembly. Is there a spacer or lock washer?

2. The through bolt (stud) for the center stand mount. I would also like to acquire one bolt
set used if anyone has one. Bolt #06.7672, Nut #06.7673.

3. Measurements or specs on the spacer between the engine mtg. plates. for the footrest
stud. #06.7654.

I didn't have much luck with Andover's parts view.
Thanks for whatever help is offered.

Only reason i know this is because of all the parts i have purchased for my Atlas build. I think the bottom stud for the transmission is the same as for the Commando's??

I appreciate the reference. I had already looked thru Andover's list. I couldn't find the gearbox mtg. bolt in their drawings. Neither the thru bolt for the center stand. I have a time factor working against me so I was hoping to resolve this by not having to wait for a shipment from England. The specs and measurements would help tremendously.
Thanks.

I'll look at the drawings for the commando gearbox bolt.

The center stand bolt is not a "through" bolt, but two bolts coming in from each side. The part number for the bolt is NM 16763.

These are clearly shown on the AN frame diagram ..... call number 81.
