Type F stands for Friction additives for the bands in past Ford automatics, so may be a smidgen better in clutch primary than Dextron type but maybe not as good as Dextron type in AMC gear box instead of type F.

Norton tech digest calls for it. Have been going this way for years. That and Barnett plates. Two finger clutch.
