Finally going to install my Sparx 200 watt alternator & solid state reg/rec. Plan is to go directly to the battery with in line fuses on both wires. Possitive ground so Black to battery Neg & Red to battery Pos. Question is will my Assimilator light stay on or will it just no longer function??? I will of coarse dissconect the Zener diode. Also, what size fuse should I use for the Black & Red wires going to the batt? Thanks.

it will more than likely fry the stock assimalator. If you want to keep a charge light get an electronic assimalator or other charge warning device.

Windy thanks but I'm not understanding what you mean. Are you saying that if I wire it the way described than power will still be going to the asimilator and fry it ? Or are you saying if I wire it some other way that does include the asimilator then it will be fried??? I don't realy care if the charging lite is in service or not, just need to know if it will be in the circuit if wired as described. Thanks.

on the non MK3 bikes the assimalator has an AC lead ( green-yellow )from the alt. that goes directly to it and the rectifier so where you are working you are not changing that part of the wiring. the higher output of AC will fry it. all you have to do is disconnect the GRN-YL and White Brown at the assimalator. I would fold them back on its self and tape it over.
