Some of you might have seen my recent post "Where was that CNW starter I committed to buying?"
I have been very busy buying two project bikes and making arrangements to get them shipped, and I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THE DEAL TO BUY THE STARTER! I couldn't remember if it was here on AccessNorton, or one of several fecebook Norton groups. One of the guys saw it and alerted me, then I remembered I had worked out with the seller on FBMarketplace to TRADE for it - he needs some work on his Commando, and live only an hour and a half away! (his asking price was $3,100)
Then, I got to thinking - I'll bet this might just make a difference to @ashman , to get back on his bike perhaps a bit quicker than if he had to be kicking it. Even if he has mates that can kick it for him, they won't ALWAYS be around sometime.
So, another AccessNorton guy, @Starvingphotog (Rob) PM'ed me asking if I would consider accepting a donation from him, toward the kit, for @ashman ! I replied I'd be interested, but first had to convince HIM to accept it. Rob suggested involving other members that might want to chip in toward the costs, and I told him if Ash WANTED it, I'd be OK with the whole thing not being "all about me (donating it)".
So, I'm fully prepared to pay the whole ticket, but I am offering others to "chip in" if so inclined. "Job 1" is to get an accurate quote on the SHIPPING cost, which I will do, then finalize the deal with the starter kit seller, and see if that will need any cash (besides the work I'll be doing). I am retired, so I really don't feel right putting a price on my labor, so this will be "fuzzy" at best.
I'm going to guess the bottom line will be closer to $2,000 with shipping, after I get his bartered work done, so we'll use that as a REFERENCE point only.
@Jerry Doe @L.A.B. if this post/thread is "out of bounds" please feel free to take it down.
Thanx to all, and here's to seeing Ash back on his beloved Norton.
