Ash is in hospital

On Sunday a my mate Joe came over he was leaving to go back to Thailand to his new wife, my beer fridge was near full so we had a session with a the beer, after consuming 24 cans of heavy beers Joe wanted to take us out for tea so a trip to our local pub for a very expensive meals and more drinks as well car rides he spent over $300, pubs are no longer cheap for their meals and drinks, Joe has more money than sense.
But before leaving home to go out I had a bit of an accident getting up out of my wheelchair and onto my crutches at the back laundry door my crutch got caught up on the drainage grill and I went arse up on my arse, my mate Joe freaked out and was trying to pull me up but was causing me more grief doing so and the bottom of my stump hit the concrete a few times till I told my mate to stop I can get up myself, so after a few days my bottom right cheek is sore, I say its bruised and have a little bit of skin wear/rash on the bottom of my stump, lucky not cut open as that would be the end of rehab till it healed up.
Monday had to take the new leg back to the leg makers and they asked if the wound on my stump was from my stump bottoming out on the leg mould and I said no and told them what happened from my fall, so all good can keep going with the walking training, just got to keep a eye on it while doing rehab, they will take my leg off me this morning and only be allowed to wear it at rehab till I can walk normal with it.
My mate Joe caused the gaze on my stump trying to pull me up as it was rubbing on rough concrete that did the damage, I kept telling him to stop as it was easier for me to pull myself up, so now hope it hasn't set me back with rehab and learning to walk again, just lucky it's a gaze and not an open wound.
Well glad Joe has flown out at midnight last night so I can slow down on what I drink, he just don't know when to stop drinking even when he can no longer stand, me I enjoy a cold beer or 2 but I no longer drink till I fall over when pissed but Sunday night I did have a few to many but the fall wasn't from being pissed out of my brain, just my right crutches got caught up on the drainage grill, well I am blaming that anyway lol.
Now Joe has gone things will get back to normal, well near so anyway.

It's just how it goes sometimes
I was away from Friday until this morning at a bike show with a 24 HR bar
I fell over 3 times on Sunday night trying to get on a poxy airbed apparently 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hope you haven't done any damage Ash

Had rehab this morning and the stump is fine, the damage from the fall was right on the bottom of the stump and when the leg is on there is a gap from the bottom of the stump to the peg leg so the workout didn't effect it but I had to remove the leg a few time so they could check on the grazing, but everything looked good, they also let me take my leg home with me.
My wife came with me in the taxi so she carried my leg for me, my training is starting to work and doing the walking the way they want me to so things are slowly coming good and my hip and stump/leg is starting to work together and my brain is learning the new way of walking with a peg leg, so I am sure the rehab physio's are very happy with the short time I had my new leg with them and my progress is going so good, it's only been 2 weeks since I had the leg, so it won't be long before my full time leg will be made.
At the leg makers yesterday they did a few minor adjustments to the leg mould and it felt so much better today in rehab, Thursday the leg makers are coming up to my next rehab to see how things are going with my leg and the way my training is going so I think they be looking at the next leg.
Things are starting to look up for me, but still got to do the right thing as they don't want me to be walking around with the leg until they are happy, but they said I am doing better than most amputees with my progress, getting closer, can't wait to play snooker/pool again and get back into the train layout as well working on the Norton, fu ck I going to be very busy soon.

Well had a big day up at rehab yesterday had 3 physio trainers as well 3 people from the leg makers came up to my training session, was hard going through my session with so many eyes on me to watch my progress, well the good news they booked me in on the 8th June to make my new full time leg, in such a short time of learning to walk again things are progressing fast and the training before I even got my training leg is starting to pay off, it's been hard work for my learning to walk differently from normal walking but things are starting to fall into place.

So on the 8th of June I lose my training leg and 2 days later I have my new full time leg which I have to learn again as there be more ankle and foot movement so have to get used to that, things are progressing fast now, lucky the CTP insurance came to the party as it would have been a 12 month wait just to get a leg, so just over 5 months now from the accident and by the end of this recovery year things are looking up for me to getting back on life again, won't never be the same but that will be up to me to enjoy what I have missed.

Debra is having a few sets back her 9 ribs she injured is playing up and she been getting a lot of pain from them, ribs take so long to recover, her leg injury is also giving her some problems as well, she is a broken down woman at the moment and I can't do much to help her with my own situation, I have my limits in what I can do for her, she has shed a lot of tears the last few days and getting broken sleep for both of us is not good, she told me the other day she had enough with what has happen to her but I told her there be a lot more pain to come but don't give up as there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but it's so hard to see and hear her pain, my pain went away when they did the big chop to my leg, but she still has both her legs, that is a big + for her, I don't think she would handle what I been through.

She just woken up in a lot of pain, more to do with her reflux than anything else, she had a few health problems long before the accident as well arthritis from her injuries when she was a young girl, a few broken collar bones in her youth and other injuries from falls and now she just turned 65 its all the old injuries are coming to get her, it's so hard for me to watch and now on top of that she has these major injuries from our accident, it's a bit hard for me to handle sometimes and not being able to help her and now me suffering from a bit of a cold doesn't help me.

It's hard telling people what we both are going through and not being able to get around like we use too, having no car is the biggest problem, relying on others , taxi/ubor cost too much, doing shopping is so hard as well without help, this is harder to handle than losing my leg, our freedom has been taken away from both of us but Debra will be driving before I will as I got to prove to others I be able to drive again, I will have no problem with one mod to a automatic car, but having to prove it is another thing, having others decide what I can do and not do, that's the hardest part for me, but I won't let the bastards win, I am strong in will and mind as I seen death door opened when we crashed and getting fixed up on the side of the road while they were saving both our lives, but I slammed that door closed.

There have been many times of having bad days and more so for Debra, I have shed a lot of tears as well over the last few months, nothing wrong in doing that, but talking about it or writing about it helps me, it just get too much for us to handle but that all about recovering from any major injuries, just got to get back on top of it and not let it get me down.

...Debra will be driving before I will as I got to prove to others I be able to drive again, I will have no problem with one mod to a automatic car...
When I broke my right leg and had a "boot" cast, I simply hoisted it up on the transmission hump and drove with my left leg.

Zero training required.

It will be great when your future post says "Debra and me are finally released from all medical and insurance problems and back to normal. I'm heading out with my mates for a ride to Mount Mee with the Norton, the e-start works a treat and shifting has become second nature"

Paul no matter what I will adapt to whatever it takes to drive and ride, using my left leg/foot on the car peddles, should be easy for me as I had no problem riding my bikes and going from right foot to left foot gear changes as well different gear patten, so a car be no different just a simple mod to the accelerator peddle.
Going out riding with the mates again is my major goal and by that time I need time away from Debra, I love her but fu ck I need my break/freedom from her even if it's just for the day or 2 but she knows when I need that escape, it also gives her a break from me.

Had a visit from my youngest daughter Rose, the police officer today, she is so loving her new career as a PO, she is a great driver as she built her own drift car that puts out 650HP and she said today how great it is doing 120 KMPH in a 60 KMPH speed zone with flashing lights she also said she has to be careful that the pasting public don't see the big grin on her face when driving high speeds on a code 2, she also has had a few funny pull overs with bike riders, being a bike rider herself, her police partner is a lot younger than her he is just 22 years old but joined up when he was 18 and they get on and work so well together, the worst part of the job she said was dealing with all the spaced out mef heads.

Ash, a lot of the attention here is about you, your leg and your Norton/CNW starter.

Can you please give my best regards to your Debra and let her know she is in our thoughts and we realise how difficult it is for her. I am sure she will keep improving
