Some things you just get a feeling for, and know them, before seeing the evidence.
Experience?
"gut instinct"?

I am not religious, so I do not really believe anything other than I exist. I live my life ethically and I am risk conscious, so I end up in the same place - but with a difference. In this life, our achievements are only limited by our mindsets. Whenever I do anything, I always know when I am likelky to be killed, in the process. In one of my jobs, I could have been instantly vaporised and ended up feeding the birds. It changed my thinking. If that happened to you, would you know you had ever existed ? So I think the whole thing about death is irrelevant. When you are gone, you probably do not know it. It is always other people who die. All that remains when yoiu are dead, is the memory of you in other peoples' minds. So what you do when you are alive, is important.
When you influrnce kids, they become your legacy.

One of the things which changed my life, was I watched Geoff Duke race the Gileras in 1954. He lives in my memory.
