aslink, your situation mimics my own dilemma when leaving the big city to move 50 yrs backwards into rural Ozarks Dixieland, spent almost all my money on getting a new place paid off, [~5000 left] then went shopping for a used riding mower before I'd even figured out where to establish a practice. Was walking out of dark storage area shop into bright sunlight w/o finding a decent mower I could afford, but two shiny rings were left somehow brighter than the spring sunshine, which made me freeze in tracks about 3 steps upright after ducking out under lowered garage door, to slowly turn step by step to re-enter shop and stop till eyes adapted to see a Commando tucked under a shelf with pu truck right up against it. Took a week of turmoil confusion with with and me going over and over <Mower or Motorcycle>. It changed my life and on 7th day it took off my R knee on drag strip the locals took me too, which was another dilemma to get through, no money left for a knee replacement so figured I'd heal up with a solid scar and bone fused stiff knee, no more motorcycle ridding possible and would save up in some years to get a new knee. But I got some healing insights most the rest of the world is missing out on and now see flailing torn crashed dislocated major joints held on by skin only as just another short cheap mild pain set back before going out for more. I was also flabbergasted amazed on seeing a '71 Commando parked on the village square where i decided to set up shop and then became my best ride buddy who introduced me to the world of Vintage rallys all over the nation. So may your new life style be better than possibly imagined.
