Are metal wiring retaining clips correct ?

If you get out your 1973 Parts Book - or find it online - items 36, 37 and 38 on Handlebars Page 21 are
plastic Cable Ties 062828 062829 062830 - in 3 different lengths - total quantity 14.
I don't recall where they all went ! - and its not shown on the illustrated page - but plastic ties are correct.
I'll have a look later on, I think they are all still on my old handlebars.
No doubt someone will even have a pic of the correct ones.....

From memory my 1971 750 Roadster had rubber ties holding the wiring on the handlebars. They lasted a short time but the rubber soon perished. At the time I could not get replacements but I think you can get them now. I seem to remember they were a John Bull part but may be mistaken. To put them on they needed to be stretched and the end "T" part threaded through a small hole. A lot of jiggling and swearing before success. I just checked my odds and ends and I have a few on hand. I think they may still be available, probably made out of better materials now.

As with Changaroo, my 71 750 has/had rubber ties as well.The type with serated arrow head which fits into a hole at the other end.

I got some of those flat rubber ties at OB, but they're lucky to last through the installation. I pretty much used plastic tie wraps, but they mess up the finish. If I did it again, I'd probably use some narrow Velcro you can get on rolls, it sticks to itself. By the time I got my 70 in 72 there were no original ties left on the bike. I can't even remember what was on it, but the plastic tie wraps were not real popular until after 72.
