ARD Magneto

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with running a flange mounted ARD magneto on a Norton Dominator.
Surely it kills the originality of the bike, but I admit that I'm curious. I hear the Triumph guys talk about them like they're the greatest thing ever, but have never seen one mounted on a Dominator. I have seen one mounted on a pre unit BSA twin, and I know the flange mounted style is much more rare than the unit Triumph version.
Just curious what info and opinions you might have.

Have you found a souce of supply for them ?

Put a Lucas sticker on it, and no-one will even notice the difference ?!!

These days, electronic bizzos that go in a gutted K2F are around, and no-one even blinks at them.
As long as your battery is all good, and kept charged....

No, I don't have a source for them, not do I have one. I'm not sure if I'd even use it, but it definitely makes me curious about them.
I've heard he basically stopped making these mags a while back, and might produce just a handful each year. I believe he's more or less retired at this point.

I like the standard magneto set up on my bikes and the ability to run completely without a battery.

Replace your orginal maggie with a Joe Hunt, mounts in the same place using the same set up and you will have no more problems.

This here is the stuff. The ARD mini-mag, solid state (on my Combat Commando). The black box is about 2" x 1" x 1".

Set it and forget it. I scribed a timing mark where all I have to do is align the alternator rotor pointer, slip in the mag, turn it till the needle drops into the hole, and nip it up. Less than 5 minutes and it strobes up on the money.

I'd rather keep the original Lucas magneto over anything else. I'm sure the Joe Hunt works great, but I don't much like how it looks.

The ARD on the Commando looks nice as it doesn't look a ton different than the stock cover.
