Installed a brand new L.F.Harris stainless rear master cylinder (AP clone) on one of my 79 Bonnie Specials (virtually the same as the Mark III unit) about 6 or 8 years ago, and never really got around to riding the bike much due to all the other bikes wanting a turn, work, family life, etc. One thing led to another and I traded the bike away in a wierd swap; anyway, the new owner decided he wanted standard bars instead of the drag bars, and couldn't get the rear brake to bleed out.

I tore my hair out for a couple of hours on the BRAND NEW master cylinder after overhauling the caliper and carefully checking the brake hose, and SURE ENOUGH, the dolts at Harris didn't assemble the bloody thing correctly!

I went "by the book" and carefully screwed the plunger assembly into the actuator body until the free play of the plunger was JUST taken up, then continued to turn in till the alignment was correct, then added ONE FULL TURN, according to the AP instructions.

Perfect pedal.

Do it right, or do it over (and over, and over...)

Yep a real manhood will power builder to take on Nortons in bulk.
Glad you got some peace in the end.

I think it's more likely to have been assembled by under-paid, under-nourished, and under-age (by Western standards) workers in a far Eastern sweatshop?
