Anyone put a single seat tail on a dual seat frame?

I had the 2nd gen Omex ECU.(bracket needed to suit that).
Do recall carefully angling the bracket into the seat hump but after that all went well.

Bike sold though so getting photos would be slow sorry.

Will look soooo right when you're done though!
 
Really interested in this also. Hate to mention the very contentious carbon fibre single seat unit but I still beleive that would look awesome, matching all the other carbon fibre on the bike.

Second best would be the standard single seat unit on my duel seat CR. Contacting Norton this weekend to obtain a carbon fibre chain guard. I’ll ask about the availability of the single seat unit.

Yer it may be that I have an older ECU. I'll contact the factory.
 
Hi,

I'm still working on my carbon single seat unit. I made a design, and actually next week the mold will be milled.
I hope the design fits nicely on the bike.

I will post some new images when the old has his final shape.
I planned to have this earlier ready. But I had a broken exhaust valve springs which was the highest priority last weeks.

Update on this issue, spoke with the factory. They sent me the incorrect bracket, no dramas, new bracket in the post. Fingers crossed, will post picks once done.
 
Hi guys,

Was at my dealer today looking at a single seat conversion for my Mk 1 dual seat CR. I stopped the parts guy when he quoted almost $1000 for the cowl alone, without seat and ECU bracket.

Spotted the rather nice seat and embroidered pad on the Mk 2 seat Cowell whilst there - that would be a very nice compromise. The dealer did not have a parts catalogue for the Mk 2 yet so IMhave gone direct to Norton for a price. Anybody else fitted a Mk2 seat and Mk 2 dual seat cowl to a Mk1 yet?

Hi Sjoerd,

I for one am very interested in how your carbon fibre single seat unit turns out. Be aware that Norton have stated that a great deal of testing went into the original tail unit and that it is a load bearing component;,no doubt you will need to consider this factor.

Also, that the weave used for the carbon would need to be very similar/same as the other carbon components if it is to look right. Looking forward to seeing some picture.

I will sure have a look at this. For a dual seater I agree for sure. But a single seater normally you don’t need any strength or stiffness. Also the newer frames are updated with extra material.
For the carbon weave it’s simple. Most of the carbon on the bike is made by me. And the weave is the same as the standard parts. But that’s more luck than brains

I will send some pictures, but be patient it may take a while.

How about incorporating the indicators & rear light in this new tail piece, placing them in scooped out slots ! ,just a thought

Indeed the tail light will in incorporated in the tail piece. I planned this flexible light for this. There will be a slot made to in the tail, to fit a transparent glass in with this light behind it. It has indicators, brake light and normal light integrated.

And the metal frame sticking out; I will cut it off as late as possible when all parts are finalized. There is no way back.
