Any luck with RGM?

I would like to add that I feel like I gave RGM a bit of a bashing this morning.

I truly hope they can resolve their website issues sooner rather than later and get back to normal. Their service has been outstanding over the few years I've been buying from them.

I am inquiring about a belt drive for an Atlas but so far they've been really slow to respond. Is this normal? Are they also very slow about shipping?
Could be Roger is tired of dealing customers in the USA? :)

Last time I ordered from RGM/Roger, it was all done on the website. Orders showed up promptly. Probably 3 years ago maybe more. Initially before my first order email was responded to. Email has not been responded to since. (I may not have had the email address with the secret handshake.) I don't bother with email. I hope Roger's website doesn't get turned into a poor excuse of a searchable text only database. Running a website that looks like it was created in the late 1980's is not very impressive.

You might have to order most of the pieces separately for the belt clutch. Pre-Commando alternator kits are not in stock. Which might be why you get no answers to email related to the Atlas belt drive. I have the 30mm belt that used to come with those pre-Commando kits if you want it.

I did see Bonzo's note from Roger about the website issues. Try doing it like Roger suggests.

Edit: If your customer has a lot of money to burn you could try TGA and Andy Molnar. He has NEB belt clutches.

I might take you up on the belt. Who's pulleys do the fit? What is the length for an Atlas?

It fits RGM AT10 belt drive pulleys. Grey Synchroflex AT10 32mm wide 980mm length. 32mm was a race width and I have no idea why RGM sent me that belt when I ordered the kit. By the way, I tried to get RGM to exchange the belt using email. That is when the email stopped coming from RGM's side. The belt has never been used and is free because it's too wide and long for a P11. I have a few other parts that come with that kit. Not free though. PM me if you are still interested.

The pre-Commando with alternator kits now come with the Red Gen3 20mm x 980mm belt. I use a 25mm x 880mm belt in the P11. It's borderline short, but functional.

If you go to the RGM site and search on "pre-Commando belt clutch" the parts and part numbers that are included in the kit are listed.

I placed an order with RGM over the phone on Friday afternoon. The parts arrived Saturday lunchtime.

Whilst there are website problems, use the phone, 'tis easy

..and still is :(

Has anyone had any contact with them this week?
Bad that you couldn't add to cart, now can't even lookup their part numbers which often are different than the parts books or AN especially for fasteners and special items/kits.

From my standpoint, if I can't find their number or if the price is not significantly lower than AN, there's no reason to consider them except for parts only they have.

The main part I want is 06.2764 at AN but for 520 chains which AN does not sell. That number at RGM is 062764N which I happen to know because I normally stock them when I can get them.

Then they have fasteners sets with numbers like CExx, SCxx and SPRNDxxT for 520 sprockets but AN's numbers are 04-0010/xx and form AN those cost a little less. It took plenty of searching to figure those things out and I've bought long lists of things for people from RGM by name rather than part - massive time waster when the site is working, certainly never going to try over the phone.

The issue is the website hosting.
If you ring them they will sort you. Last Friday I placed a phone order, the order arrived Saturday lunchtime
Yes, many in the UK keep saying the same thing.

No chance in hell I'm making repeated international calls and trying to describe the parts I want - not worth the slightly lower prices and can live without the special things only they have.

Doing that from the USA is intimidating. Well, for me anyway. Seems like a waste of money to find out if something is in stock.

For what it's worth........

I am a British expat living in America, (legal permanent resident). Spent around thirty years or so in each nation. As you probably guessed I am going to say I have no problem calling the U.K. to place parts orders, and have done so frequently. International phone calls are now much cheaper than they were a few years ago. Yes, British "Customer Services" can be somewhat different from its U.S. equivalent. Sometimes it can seem a bit brusque, but that is just the culture. They want to sell parts and they want to help you buy them. Give it a go, try something new. After all this is a Norton forum. Norton's are hardly everyday fare anymore and shall we say can be "temperamental". You are comfortable with them, so clearly you do not have a problem dealing with the unexpected.

Emails still work AFAIK?
If you can live without, then great.
