It's really a beautiful bike with those high pipes. I have low slung dunstall's on my bike and like their sound. Any reason why you changed your dunstall's out for the pea shooters?

Thanks. I swapped pipes mostly to shed weight. I wasn't sure my setup (exhaust hangers, etc.) would hold up under normal use. I also have a metal Hi-Rider tank and metal sidecovers that will be going on when they're painted and the shortys fit the overall look better. I know the longer pipes will make better top end power, but I don't plan on running it very hard in any case.

Ah,...... ok, that makes sense. My reason for liking the dunstalls is more about other drivers hearing my bike coming up on them, because a good percentage of drivers are looking at their smartphones as often as they are looking at the road.... I wonder how many times my loud pipes have saved me from being cut off...

Either way, the bike looks great.

Got spark, got fuel (i even poured a little in the carb throats) and don't get anything but a couple backpops. Next step is to pull it behind a car to try and bump start it.

Got the the Boyer wiring sorted (see fuel level test thread) and now it starts, first kick. Last night, I chased an oil leak coming from the vicinity of the oil filter. Hose clamps were tight, so I suspected the rubber gasket on the ancient filter may have hardened or shrunk to the point of not sealing. I took the works apart and discovered one of the pressed-in pipes in the Mk III filter housing had split, so I went to the bonepile and dug out the "Billybob" filter adapter I used on the old 750 version of this machine. It wouldn't fit in between the cradle plates, so I removed the threaded galvanized stubs and threaded them into the Mk III housing with some teflon tape, exactly as I had done on the aftermarket housing.

So today I will try to source an oil filter locally. Cross-referencing a K&N KN 153 on the Wix website, I came up with part #57013. Has anyone used this filter? I trust Wix products implicitly. They are made locally and they manufacture filters for many different brand names.

Glad you got it going Danno, always good to hear of positive results, there was a thread on here a while back listing many many of the cross referenced numbers for oil filters unfortunately I don't recall the title of it at the moment.

Thanks for the link. It doesn't show the Wix # I cross-referenced. I have one coming today. If it doesn't match the threads or gasket surface I'll exchange it for one listed on the chart.

The filter works, but the oil drip was coming from one of the braided-stainless lines that obviously cracked internally. Oil was welling up through the braid where the hose bends and running all the way down like a wick to the filter area.

Oil leak fixed, sidecovers welded and breakage-prone brake pedal replaced. Tank and sidecovers are primed and ready to paint on the first decent weekend. Pics to come.

As promised, Ducati Monster brake pedal necessitating tilting of master cylinder mounting to get proper foot angle;

Sidecovers tig-welded, ground and primed, along with metal Hi-Rider tank, ready for paint;

Similar to my solution on the Dreer monoshock prototype bike since I converted the tranny to right-foot shift.

Mocked up with the solo seat from Grandpaul;

Seems to work well with the Hi-Rider tank.

Mounted the heat shields today. Used some stainless wellnuts, spacers and button head allens along with some stainless hose clamps to attach the shields to the pipes.
I need to do this on my Morini. Do you have a pic that shows this arrangement before attaching the shield?

It needs the front fender mounted under the bottom yoke!

Looking good.

Thanks. I HATE that high-fender look! :lol: :lol: Anyone need a 'glas Roadster tank, sidecovers and '71 seat?

Got the base coat of color painted last weekend.

Not sure what else I want to do before applying the lettering. Gotta find a pinstriper , too.

Looks so good after the final coat, I might just put the lettering on and leave it this way.

Coming off the platform this weekend for cleanup and a test run. After that, graphics and maybe some pinstripes.
