ANOTHER SLATING ON YOU TUBE....

Since I started reading the posts on this forum I've changed my opinion on the new Norton 961s. While the newest Norton 961s are not or may never be available in the U.S. I'd love to have one in my shop.

I said the same thing on my youtube channel earlier today.

FCCR,

You saying that you would like to import a new 961 into the US strictly for display in your shop, even though it would be impossible to register and license in the US?

No...I will have to wait until I can actually ride the bike. Too much beauty and too much money to not ride. I'm not a collector nor do I have that kind of money. 😄

I can wait maybe two more years after that I might be too old.

Yep, whatever you do Cliff, do not accept anything positive being said about the 961 - cos’ you know it’s not a proper vintage Commando right? 🤣

footrests stayed up on that one. Interesting about the limited lock on the Stelvio hairpin. It’s bad enough on normal roads….

Don’t really get her comment there - a bit of inexperience I guess. Never ridden around a bend, on full lock, no matter how tight😂! Closest might be super-slow turning in a tight carpark, ridin’ the rear brake! The lock/turning circle generally is not as bad as some bikes I’ve owned - think Ducati!

Ridden all over Europe, but never the Stelvio though! Looks awesome!!

Cyclists coming down the Stelv are a problem, nearly got hit by one who fell off in a tunnel (wet road) and he slid a very long way.

The whole thing looks a bit challenging whatever your mode of transport. On a motorcycle, not only is it the most extreme bends you will come across in normal riding but those repeated multiple times. Plus if you are decending, it looks like you have limited view of oncoming traffic so no real opportunity to use the width of the road to negotiate the turn.

Looks easier coming up the mountain?

Coming down on a cycle one of my enduring memories is the acrid smell of hot brake blocks. An the cries of those who had tried to save a few euros by not buying premium brand brake blocks. Negotiating them going up, the change of direction and inclination is beyond what you ever imagined. At least with a cycle you can chicken out and walk it up.

The trick is to apply a bit of back brake when going up and around the tight hairpins, the stabilisers the bike and also stops you from running wide, and look up through the corner to see what’s coming down,it might be a bus !
