Never mind the sheep, put your money in classic bikes, I reckon they'll probably give a better return. Well, that's the line I'm trying to sell the financial controller at the moment...
Stu, what we have to do is get back to manufacturing and exporting finished goods. The way our minerals should be leaving this country is in the form of cars, not ores. We keep handing over our primary resources for a song and buying cheap Asian goods that are nothing more than incipient landfill, while our manufacturing capabilities are slowly but irrevocably replaced by import warehouses. This cannot continue. We are loosing expertise and capability that we will never be able to re-establish. We are fooling ourselves into thinking we are all raising our living standards by importing low-quality junk from our neighbors, when all we are doing is becoming totally dependent on these countries. Our politicians will not do anything, as long as we all have pretty new cars to drive around in and exercise our road rage, as long as we are flat-screen flat-lined every night, we think we've got it made. We are stupid and deserve no better.
Rebuild and ride a Norton. Put money into the local economy via parts and labour. Keep it as an investment. Don't watch television, get out into the shed and fettle. Forget road rage, get out there and wear that Norton grin.
