You reckon that's Good

It is now cheaper to pay your new car off as the interest rates on a new motor vehicle down here is around 3.2% !!

That makes it totally impractical to pay cash for a new car ~ as I did three years ago ~ ( that is I own my car and I am getting 5.9% on my cash ! )

Home mortgage rates here in the US are around 4% now, not seen since after WWII. Car loans probably around 5%, just guessing. Interest on your bank account about .01%, not kidding. No way to make any money here. It's all about financial marketing and Wall Street is making it all and doing nothing for the country or working people. Maybe I shouldn't go here, but I just did.

Don't worry what %&*% me right off is the fact that Australia SHOULD be the number One economy in te World and even Worldly economists have described Australia as the "Incredible down Under"

But last week we slipped to N0 17 most efficient market in the World from 5/7th~

Why!?

Because IMO we are ruled by a Insane Narcissistic government ~ Our so called Brilliant PM simply throws money at Anything and Everything to get a fix.. so now we are in Debt up to our balls and sinking!! ~

And even Worse the Opposition Party is a surety/ promise to deliver us into Doom! ~ And lead by a like character ~ a Puetin wannabe in theology and physique ~ a certifiable negative lunatic!

In fact both parties are endeavouring cut pensions as we are entitled to a life long pension after 65.. But now unless you were born before 1960 ~ you will be a sliding scale down hill in amounts as they push us into Superannuation . Which by the way simply crashes as soon as there is a Markety hic up as the companies invest OS !!

Mate we are Scr%$$wed~
(But on a high Ms M and I are doing Okay ~ two new cars, two classic bikes all road registered and taxed ~ and we are saving money at 5.8 % into roll overs~ .. screw the superannuation sharks!)

Meanwhile folks on IOM are having a ball right Now ~ !

Never mind the sheep, put your money in classic bikes, I reckon they'll probably give a better return. Well, that's the line I'm trying to sell the financial controller at the moment...

Stu, what we have to do is get back to manufacturing and exporting finished goods. The way our minerals should be leaving this country is in the form of cars, not ores. We keep handing over our primary resources for a song and buying cheap Asian goods that are nothing more than incipient landfill, while our manufacturing capabilities are slowly but irrevocably replaced by import warehouses. This cannot continue. We are loosing expertise and capability that we will never be able to re-establish. We are fooling ourselves into thinking we are all raising our living standards by importing low-quality junk from our neighbors, when all we are doing is becoming totally dependent on these countries. Our politicians will not do anything, as long as we all have pretty new cars to drive around in and exercise our road rage, as long as we are flat-screen flat-lined every night, we think we've got it made. We are stupid and deserve no better.

Rebuild and ride a Norton. Put money into the local economy via parts and labour. Keep it as an investment. Don't watch television, get out into the shed and fettle. Forget road rage, get out there and wear that Norton grin.

Norton grin

Dave

Or the Triple thrill ` LOL

I drive Merete insane as I will not buy food stuffs that are not made in Australia ~ When we do shop at Woolworths I strive to be dedicated to Ozzie Made~ Which is very hard in Woollies ~ I find solace in knowing that I am keeping the WW check out chicks employed ~ Heheehe!

(BTW ~ If you think you are getting a good deal on WW or Coles cheap milk.. it is NOT the same quality ! )

( I guess all our international members do the same ~ (?) )

I will pay that bit extra if I know I am supporting 'local" !

Trouble is AC and Stu, Budgy Smuggler is no better. We are severely short of wisdom, intelligence, vision and courage at the pointy end of the boat at the moment. We will pay for this dearly in the long run. A pity really, because it could be otherwise.

With governments borrowing colossal sums to fund Keynesian spending, they can't afford high rates.

So, the central banks use their regulatory tools to push rates down and to hold them there.

Rate controls are to economies as rent controls are to housing.
Rate controls discourage investment in the economy just as rent controls discourage investment in housing.

When rates are artifically low, too low, below the risk that they offset, then lenders cannot and will not lend.
Moreover, the central banks look over the shoulders of the bankers, saying "Only Treasuries or Gilts are safe."

And everyone stands around dumbfounded - "Huh, why don't these low rates don't stimulate ? ? ? ? "

I totally agree about Tony Abbott ~ In fact HE IS SCARY ~ VERY very scary man !

( In fact I wrote to NLP HQ in Canberra and stated that while TA was at the helm, I (and others) will NEVER vote LNP! )

It's a very scary view as far as the eye can see ~ The view only screams of a cultural , political or potential desert as far as our Parliment goes!!

The latest political cartoon I received suggested that many Ozzies are leaving Australia~ so they can return as a Boat person ~

Then spend < 12 months> in paid accommodation, reap a steady and substantial income afterward with all the fringe benefits ~ free~ of charge or obligation to work or lift a bloody finger ~ protected from any political, ideology or cultural discriminations ~

Another cartoon suggested there is a log line of Boat people arriving~ and another big line as business people lining up in the opposite direction ~ to take their business over seas ~

If that were not SO very true ~ it might actually be funny

THANK Goodness we can all run away and hide on our two wheel sexual locomotive symbols !! !!8) :D :D

Thanks MK111 , my savings -checking pays out a whopping .01 %. A G.I.C. will get you 2 % , just below the annual inflation rate. I noticed the Sheep kicked the Norton with a metallic tinny clank sound. I would kick anyone or animal that pulled that little move out of the garage ,at least to the store to get some beers on them of course.

Gooday Stuart

I live near Tony and know him and his family. Very nice family. Tony has been an athlete most of his life, a champion middleweight at University, an excellent cyclist who raises hundreds of thousands for charity every year. He has been a volunteer life saver for many decades and still patrols when he can, hence the budgie smugglers (speedo's are compulsory for male life savers). When you sit a have a beer with the man, I find he is no different to you and me.

Australian politics is similar to the USA where parties play the man, not the ball, demonising good people.

The one constant is, we will be riding Nortons no matter what the political environment.

Cheers

Mark

He may be a nice bloke Norti, but he does an awfully good impression of an airhead.

Mark

It's actually refreshing to actually hear positive feed back from "real People" !

I actually think since last week TA 's PR people have told him to tone it down and are working on his public image ~ as Dave suggests his image/ reputation really SUXs ~ And generally folks DON'T like him !

He has some distance to go to get him image up ~ No more negative BS !! ~ be the details right or wrong.. here we are tired of his never ending negativeness~

All about the Power of the Media we all rely on eh ! ?
