Amazon

I've talked about Amazon in the past and I average around four orders/week with them so I'm not a hater. However, over the last two weeks they have been trying to turn m into one!

1) I use a lot of WD40 so I buy it by the gallon from Amazon. I was out so I ordered another gallon on the 25th with 2-day shipping, it was shown as delivered on the 29th so late. It was not delivered. I tried to start a case online but they said to wait two days. I did and then the ability to start the case online was gone. It was supposedly delivered by FedEx so I filed a claim there and they said they delivered so there was nothing for them to do - of course, no proof of delivery. I finally found the Amazon Customer Service number on the Internet (it's not on the site anymore). Once I got the lady who I could barely hear and who could barely hear me (apparently in India) she issued a refund since it was fulfilled by a third party. I looked again on Amazon and they only had it from the third party ($43+ delivered), I checked Walmart.com. Long story short, two gallons arrived the next day for $60.80 total including tax! WAY less than Amazon.

2) I pay for Prime which has just gone up to $120/year. I wanted to watch a Prime movie. It cost $3.98, ok that sucks. What's much worse it included ads! Walmart does not require a membership.

3) I'm out of 06-7710 (layshaft bearings). With shipping, customs and fees, they are about $70 delivered from AN. Amazon lists the identical FAG bearings for about the same price but without Prime shipping. I ordered four to offset the shipping and chose shipping that was supposed to get them here yesterday. According to tracking they are now coming Oct 7th. While talking to Amazon customer service they told me the delay is because they are coming from China. Of course, Amazon does not tell you this! What are the chances that real FAG bearings are being supplied from China? If they ever get here, I suspect that they are knock-offs and I'll have to return them! If you look on eBay there are LOT of listing for those bearings where they state that they are coming from China, and the picture shows a box with the right colors but wrong design for FAG. At least eBay tells you where things are shipping from - Amazon doesn't.

Don't get me wrong - it would take a couple of strong men to drag me into a Walmart store, but I've had several really good experiences with WalMart.com so I'm going to start looking there more often.

"Prime which has just gone up to $120/year"....hmmm, I wonder if the recent lawsuit finding that Amazon had been tricking people into signing up for Prime and making it difficult to cancle has anything to do with rate increase? They gotts ta get the $$$ lost in the suit back people still using Prime... I need to tell my 89 yr old dad as he was on prime a while back even though he rarely orders stuff and never uses streaming.

They all want their share of our hard earned money even when you sign up they still put ads on to get you to pay that extra more money on top of what you have already paid for you watch commercial TV and the ads are getting longer and more, watch Youtube and the ads in the last 12 months have increased, they all finding ways to get more out of us, nothing is free these days well not all but its getting worst and the hands keep coming out to grab us for more and more.
When we go camping for a few weeks at a time out bush or our favorite beach camping a few weeks with out phone, TV or internet and just sitting around at night with a few drinks chatting or play cards or other game that we take with us, forgetting what's happening around us and enjoying the good old days when we were growing up without all the crap we have these modern times.
Remember when life was more simpler, everyone chatted face to face, people visited each other instead of phone, chat, text or emails, thinking for ourselves without AI, instead of walking around with a phone glued to your hand, kids growing up overweight because they sit around playing their games instead of enjoying the great outdoors, so the good old days was harder but more active in what we did.
Glad I still live a simple life without the B S.
And yes I do have Prime sadly.

Where are getting it for $120 ?
I just paid my Prime membership today and it was $139 + $12.34 Tax =$151.34

I'm wrong, just checked, $139 - even more annoyed now! It was $119 last I looked. There is no tax on service in VA.

Prime membership provides free shipping, though a great many if not majority of vendors on Amazon provide free shipping
for non members. Perhaps not as quickly.
Prime does provide for easy, no-hassle returns.
Prime membership provides free downloads of a whole lot of very boring low grade videos. What they offer that is worthwhile
I have already seen and/or requires a rental fee.
I already subscribe to Apple Music, so Amazon music becomes a cumbersome stand alone albatross.
So…….why do I have Prime membership? I think I’ve answered my own question.

60% (guess) of Amazon products won't ship to new Zealand anymore, since covid really.
