Yesterday (June 21, 2024) I ordered four items from Amazon that were supposed to arrive tomorrow (June 23, 2024) together. Got three of the items in two separate deliveries today (June 22, 2024).

Thursday (June 20, 2024) I ordered two items that were supposed to be delivered yesterday (June 21, 2024). They were delivered yesterday as promised. Then an hour later I got an email from Amazon apologizing that the order was delayed and that it was expected to arrive on Tuesday (June 25, 2024)!

I understand how efficiency can make them be able to (sometimes) cost less and deliver fast, but it seems like there is a lack of efficiency now. Of course, in each case above I got the items on time or early so I'm not complaining - just amused.

Not so much human error but ghosts in the machine.

Speaking of Amazon...I have an old friend. He has a niece. She got her masters in computer analytics/applied business administration (whatever that means) and then went to work for a new shopping fulfillment company called Amazon.
She was the 6th person the new company employed.
In its early start-up days of restricted cash flow she took stock in lieu of salary during the early lean years.
She now owns her own island off the Pacific coast, sits on the advisory board and is not yet 40.
Good for her methinks.

"Right place / Right time"

YAHTZEE!

Yes, and I will never begrudge anyone that made the most of their opportunity without taking advantage of others to pay unjustly for those advantages.

In the same way, I don't begrudge several well-known, well-to-do people that also achieved success by WORKING HARD and applying their skills and discipline to ACHIEVE. I won't add to that, to keep it ON POINT.

HARD WORK PAYS OFF. Being in the right place at the right time is nice when it happens.
