I have a single Amal Premiere on my 1970 Triumph Tiger. It used to be just fine. It has now begun dripping gas after priming. Sometimes it will stop after shutting off gas supply and then turning back on.
The gasket has been trimmed so as to not touch the float pin.
It has an aluminum viton tipped float needle
I have polished the brass seat
I have tried another float needle
I have tried another float
I have twisted the tickler.
I have or have had 7 Brit bikes with Amals. Never had this happen before.
Any thoughts?

Take the bowl off, put your fingernail on the pivot pin and turn the bowl upside down. The float must not protrude more than a tiny bit below the edge of the bowl. This is always my final check after setting the float/fuel height. the point is that it not hit the bottom of the carb. While there, make sure that the roll pin of hte tickler is not protruding below the edge of the carb body.

Why?

The gasket holds the pivot pin in place.
Duh!! Of course. Somewhere years ago I had read that an untrimmed gasket could foul the float’s action. Waiting for a new gasket to arrive.
