I have wanted to try this experiment for awhile.
I took a plastic Amal bowl drain plug, drilled through the bottom, and epoxied a fuel petcock barb into it.
Then a foot of 5/16" fuel line attached to the barb and turn on the fuel tap on the tank.
NAPA only had the green Tygon line, $3/foot.
The fuel level seen in the line will be the fuel level in the float bowl.
It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but the level is just at the level of the bowl screw head.
The bike starts and idles fine with 1-1/4 turns out of the idle air screw.
