You can also just use some tape while installing the cam seal. Cellophane or rubber, as long as it's thin and flexible and easy to get off.

Cam seal...

Here is a photo using scotch tape on the cam end to help ease the seal on when re-installing the timing cover.

If the end of the cam has mushroomed a bit due to over tightening the auto advance unit, you can use emery paper to smooth the diameter.

If you have removed the timing cover, then you need to take care to properly reset the ignition timing.

Well, it runs and is registered and insured! I took it out for about 60 miles today and it runs real good. Here are a few pictures.

I have the complete wiring diagram that I drew up and used to wire it. I'll post more about that in the wiring thread. The Lucas Rita works great and with the heat sink I put on the external resistor it doesn't even get hot. Oil pressure is good. I had a blast. Oh, and I found the rusted out old speedo and she only had 1200 miles not 5000. No smoke at all so here is hoping that I got a Combat that doesn't split a piston.
