I think that you'll have difficulty fitting a standard chromed Commando filler to an alloy tank as they are reliant on a pre-formed neck and seat which was either bonded into the glassfibre or formed on the steel tanks. I don't think the hinge design would lend itself to being replicated in alumin(i)um which means that you're left with the alternative of bonding a steel neck to the new tank. This is why most fabricators fit the threaded collar which accepts the screw-on Monza cap.
