That looks like a lot more fun than wiring a Mk3 Commando, even with musical a accompaniments.

Very nice !

I'm glad there are folks willing to dedicate the time and resourses to keep the old Nortons alive in the classic races.

Thansk Cookie,

The downside is just how much time and resources it takes.....the upside is when you beat a lot of triples!! (some of them are unbeatable though, but thats all down to the riders!)

I reckon if I sold my BMW M Roadster it would finance less than a season. Recing gets scarey fast.
I was in a pub yesterday talking with a guy who has been racing Mustangs in Drag racing for years, he used to hold a ntional title I believe, can't recall if he still does. He was telling me one second had cost him over $20,000 in development costs.

I used to get carried on at to race in the late 70's. Trouble is, I just could not afford it. My friend was racing at the time & he was averaging an expendature of approx. £85.00 a week. I was bringing home about £95.00 a week.
Seriously looked at sprinting my Norton last year. The only reason I didn't, is because I didn't have a trailer in case it blew up.
Still might do it one day. I love tuning motors.

It's funny about racing, the human need for competition probably comes from as far back as cave people. At that time Og was trying to beat Zog in dinosaur kills, the winner got the chicks. I got to a point where I realized I was going around in the same circle (sailboats) and the thrill was gone.

Well spotted Flo,

I've been away looking at the downside of racing, one of my mates fell off at Snetterton and was hit by the following rider. He's just out of hospital after 3 weeks in ICU....broken sternum, most of his ribs, collarbone and 2 collapsed lungs! To an extent he's lucky it happened on the track because the doctors were there within a minute.....on the road, and we'd have been going to a funeral, so it can be a two edged sword! He'll be OK, but will never race again, which is a shame as he was ahell of a good rider....and will still be runner up in the F750 championship this year.

Cadwell Park this weekend for the race of the Year, so lets hope the rubber side stays down!! I've been the Manic Mechanic this week trying to get everything ready !!

Seeley, good luck this weekend.

Life's short, make the most of it.

Graeme.

In all actuality, and in fact, the CHOKE valve (enricher slide), DOES indeed "choke" the flow of air through the carb throat. That's how they got thier monicker.

Tickle it you wrigglers!
Best of luck Seeley. Don't forget, only get your hand off the front brake to give it a handful.
Did anyone mention Chris Montez?

With all the knowledgeable, experienced contributors in this forum,
