Oh dear, it's even been taxed this year......now look what you've started Chris!!

Owned it two whole days now. Got it running today, went for a trip up to the end of the cul-de-sac & it got me home. Thinking of using it for trips to the newsagents. I could even do a tour of the newsagents. I am keeping the rack, it would be good for carrying egg sarnies.
Wow, the exhaust note, Rung dung dung dung.

That's quite a kick, I enjoy anything old like that. Not too many made it over here.

plj850,

When you sell the bike you might just Scream....be careful, there might just be a carcass left, and then all you've got left is the 58th variety :)
Ha Ha ................. :D :D :D Ok I will stop now so back to Chokes or Air Slides.

Since the whole thing barely held together with Combat tuning when you take it racing you are going to change some parts, at this point it is like racing your grandmother.
Don't forget Pink Floyd when repairing Nortons, they respond well to that.

When I race my Grandmother I always win is that whay you meant?

Not really, I mean an old bike is as fragile as granny. There was a reason that the Triumph they did that old land speed record with had custom Chrysler Hemi type rods and a hand made crank somebody in Texas cut out of a solid billet. In stock form these were early designs but Carrillo rods and a billet crank can allow serious RPMs.

Hi Cookie,

The only problem with a billet crank is the weight, a lightweight centre and carillos lets mine go to 8k any time I need it, the poor old Mk3 cheeks couldn't cope though, so a Maney crank it is.......at least I know the history, rather than hoping a 35 year old crank (almost as old as your granny :) ) hasn't been dropped a few times over the years!

Seeley, prehaps you could use one of your broken cranks to shove up arse of the curry muncher from Bangladesh so he might refrain from posting spam on an otherwise good forum

I'm sure by now you've got it set up to hold together with all the weak bits beefed up. It would get frustrating fast with the old stuff.

LOL, send him over...I'll twist it sideways as I insert it :)

Yep, I think the only Norton bits left are the oil pump , timing gears!...and the head casting!

Seeley920, if you short stroke what is the bore, etc, etc.

(pics?)

Carried on wiring today, me and P Floyd and Lou R and LZ, even The Air Valves. Most enjoyable.

LOL,

Hi GRM, it's a "normal" short stroke, 77 x 80.4 loks standard on the outside, because they use longer rods, so the motor is thesame height etc....same as the JPNs in 1973 (the race ones, not the road thingies :)

P.s we need to be careful, this might just turn inrto a thread about bikes!!

Bike....there...I've done it now !!

I'd be concerned about wiring to Lou Reed. I always figured he had a couple of wires crossed himself.

Yes Cookie, but the Norton wiring is a Walk on the Wild Side also.

Seeley, nice bike, what's the frame ? Got a pic of it dressed?
