Matt Spencer, thank you for that link to the amazing RAF documentary. On topic, when I got my 650 Bonneville it kicked back like a bastard and I had some of that same fear of kick starting. Turns out that it came in with black/white and black/yellow wires were going to the wrong coils. The Bonnie is running a Tri-Spark now and is a first-kick starter and smooth runner.
