Hi.
Please, Roy Bacon book starts with N15 in may 1967 with 120323 number.
But i have seen on the web pictures of N15 of 1964 onward, and case marked N15 CS 11..... !!!
But N15 and N15 CS are the same bike?
Let me understand, please.
Thanks.

It would be helpful if you quoted the page number where you found that,
and in what book too - Mr Bacon has turned out quite a lot of useful publications. !
(later books supercede earlier info, it should be noted)(which some readers don't appreciate ?)

So, without knowing the source, or how it is quoted, I'd think that that is the VIN number that was produced at that date.
If you hunt around, we can probably find examples of the VIN numbers produced in earlier years.

When you hunt around too, its amazing how many details and numbers are misquoted, where the author(s) didn't understand the factory numbering system, know that some batches of some models were purely for export, or that the production year started in Sept. Especially in respect of these 'hybrids' as they are known.
So, most VIN lists are incomplete at best, and/or misleading in omitting some of these details.

No VIN's on the NOC website, but it does give a fair rundown of the models - beginning 1964.

Starting the production "year" in the previous September was a common practice throughout the entire UK vehicle industry - it may still be the case. In the US auto industry, "next year's models" start to appear in showrooms in September also.
