I've only used Blue Hylomar. It is overrated messy weird stuff. I found it difficult to lay down a thin even layer of it out of the tube. It worked on my timing side gasket that doesn't really need anything but a standard gasket to seal, but was a total fail on the wet primary. It might work as thread sealer. I don't really care for the stuff, because its so fiddly to apply.
I don't have any sealer on my Norton cases. They do not leak due to how well the crank case pressure is evacuated. And the cases have only been apart twice. That clear Hylomar would probably work if the case surfaces are good. Don't know though, because I have not used it.
For the generic wide flat metal to metal seals I know I might take apart again I use Versachem Mega Grey. Nothing fancy.
Only gasket maker type sealant I've used that works as advertised is Permatex Right Stuff, but it is a nightmare to take parts apart after using it. I had a cupped buffed out stainless Norton spindle end cap that leaked and used Right Stuff on it. Fixed the leak and I was able to run the motor seconds after using it. I use it primarily on Gen 1 SBC intake manifolds for the valley ends. I think about using it on my Norton wet primary cover, but it would be a lot of work to separate the inner and out covers after using it, so I've held off. Not recommending it for the Norton cases, but it holds stuff together and seals clean surfaces extremely well. I'm probably off topic by now.
