Yes that is how its gone down on my two Combats, essentially clapped out, letting go in stages of major involvement. No one gets a good road worthy Cdo w/o bleeding one way or another. I figure I'll break even if no more majors for next 20 yrs enjoyment just wiping off dust and changing oil and plugs...+ tires...
Get 2 1st bushes as they wear about twice as fast as the rest, and none fits w/o reaming some how. hobot

My Christmas present this year was a smoking Ebay deal on a partial transmission. The parts I needed were exorbitant new and i rolled the dice. For 70$ shipped I now have the parts . First time I feel like i got more than my moneys worth on Ebay. If it was one of Ya'll, Thank You!

The Red Bull can on the bike lift tells the story unless you have it there to cut up and and make shims. BTDT.

Perhaps those keys will jingle and jangle and scratch up the primary cover plus irritating/confusing sound.

I made sure my ignition was up higher. Or you can just run a single key.

I am much closer now. Way over budget but it's not done. ... I am the cautionary tale. I bought the barely there, bastard child that needed everything and have paid dearly for every nut and bolt.
Hi Hankmarx, I've been in this same place - it's only riding the complete bike that throws all these thoughts out and proves that the effort and expense was worthwhile.
Excellent work, keep at it.

Hi hankmarx, you will have a very nice bike that no matter how many little things made you bleed a bit from your walet the smiles and joy of ridding will erase. I like the way you mounted your Reg/Rectifyer & horn. Would you please post a close up picture of how you did it? Thanks, merry holidays.

Lookin good Hank, keep up the good work and it will all be worth it in the end,in more ways than you could beleive!. :D

Indeed . I think its important to go ' for a good walk ' after the last bolts tightened . Clear the head from the ' mental processes ' of the jigsaw puzzle . Breath a sigh of relief .

And look to the next phase of carefull start up , retourque , maintain settings , and RELAX . To appreciate to the full . A gap or seperation from the intensity of the trials ,
gets you clear of the treadmill outlook .

18 and half of every monthly paypacket absrbed more times than Id care to remember , or imagined , had the thing in fully servicable shape . And presented No uncalledfor
episodes or incedents from there on.
But to get the full benefit of appreciateing the best settings for the adjustments , its preferable to look at that phase as removed from the predeceding traumas . Finacially .

Mate we have all been there! But I love your wheels and the bike looks great. If the Kicker shaft was cracked, that could explain first not holding in? Obviously check out the layshaft bearing on the primary side. Also from my experience, look closely at the bush inside your first gear, these can wear and or move about, the bush is pretty thin.
My 74 was originally a Hi Rider, I now have a Roadster tank, but when running 2 gallon Hi Rider tank, you did not get very far between fill ups!

Cheers Richard

That will be one good looking bike, hope mine is half as good when its finished. What make are the silencers? they look really good quality. Keep posting the pics!

A rider now.

I still need a speedo and a tach. I have a grabrail. indicators, and some rearsets on the way. I may have the last Clubman Racing rearsts on the shelf.

My shop had those pipes in the back, I don't know who made them.

And single key with a bit of string is how I'm rolling.

My goodness it's fun.

Did you have the frame repaired or replaced. If you did have a new rear loop added and some other work on it done, about how much did it cost. I ask this because several post recently have addressed frame problems.
