Don't believe the hype, just heard about one of the early ones that has been delivered, sounds like a bag of spanners and the factory ignore phone calls and e mails on the subject. Whats really going on? So number 6 should have neen delivered to our friend in Notts by now, not seen him on here singing its praises yet.
Like I've said before I'd like to see one thats actually done some miles before I buy one. Price goes up on the 10th of May according to a very nice letter and brochure I got from them last week.

I'm pretty sure no company is so stupid as to ignore their customers. Word would spread far too quickly about a shoddy bike. Anything beyond a rumor at this point? Was it heard at a Triumph dealer?

Straight from the horses mouth basically, don't want to say any more at the moment. Remember they have in the past ignored customers, Richard being turned away from the factory by security!

We'll see how much support customers get when the company shuts the doors in a few years. I'm being generous by giving them 3 years, so call me a skeptic I guess.

I'm not sure if you have ever had any experience in customer service or know what it entails, let's just put it this way, I don't have the patience for it. Customers might always be right but they aren't always correct.

As for being turned away from the gate, a small setup like that just can't let anyone come strolling in without an appointment, I don't care who you are.

I'm glad you guys hate the new bikes and hope they fail. Maybe they can move the factory back to the US were it might get more support.

I don't hate, I simply just dont care. The bike does look better than anything being offered by the Japanese and does look like a typical Euro styled bike like anything from Aprilla or Guzzi ect. The more threads that pop up about the new bike, the more skeptical I get about it's success since all I read seems to point towards disappointment and failure. The new company seems like its just a bunch of bored rich kids looking for something to do.

If I had 20k for a bike it'd be another classic. Don't know if they'll fail or not, but it'll definitely be slow going for a couple years

hey I don't want them to fail thats the number one!!
I've seen it so many times, I do think its great that Garner has tried to do the right thing BUT although the new bike looks great I want some proof it goes great THEN I'll buy one, no problem.

I'm lucky (or maybe unlucky) to get people keeping me in the loop with regard to the new bike so I'm not slagging it without foundation or from rumour. I hope its a success.

Having said that I'm also very happy with my Commando's from the 70's still the best bike I ever owned!

I don't think production will be moved back to the former colonies BTW :D

Gino,

Clearly I don't know you and am sure that you're fundamentally a decent guy. However, if you're going to insult a group of us I suggest that you find another, more original insult. That one's a little stale; it's been so for at least the last two centuries.

Steve, don't take it all too serious, how many former colonies are there, anyway? I don't find that insulting... kinda funny, really!

As for the guys at Norton, I wish them the best, and I wish their products were priced for everyday enthusiasts. It's gotta be like building the pyramids or something; not just engineering and building a few nice bikes, but to be commercially viable... as the hawaiians say "auwe!!" (holy sh*t!!)

Pretty the number of times "warm beer " has been mentioned far exceeds "former colonies" by a large margin.

At least Gino said 'former colonies'. To the Rondellis, Scotland is the current colony but then he rides all around Europe acting like he owns the place :)

I don't think it was the same old git doing the wheelies (but I could be wrong)

I know it wasn't. Did you see how uncomfortable he looked just coming to a stop?

Just an update guys, at a meeting last night and heard it first hand, the guy had to end up calling Motor Cycle News and complain about being ignored, he got a call back an hour later from the factory, they tried to fob him off. Only the threat of legal action made them come and take it back again to try to fix it. The guy is now so P*ssed off he doesn't want it back really.

Now not slagging, stating facts only, has Richard got his number 6 yet? he was on saying it was imminent. I have heard though that a bike was spotted in Grimsby and actaully on the road not a trailer.

Thats cause I thought I did
Swooshdave, take a chill pill, you may notice from my name that the UK is one of my ancestors former colonies as well

Gino, England was certainly colonised by your glorious forebears, but not Scotland, in fact your great great uncle Hadrian Rondelli had to build a wall to stop us coming over and nicking all of the Ducatis!

Factory Combats can if ya really mean too - them.
Note rear tire fold up was not up to the torque so tore off R knee just
past the lights. L leg can kick er off if ya sit backwards to do it.
2S cam waits until 6800 to really come on and beyond.
Bike in close lane 1200 Sportster wheelie bar'd cammed so
peaky un usable as road bike, got jump on him this last time.

Hi Gino,

I have a deposit on #79, here in California. You earlier said the guy's problem with his new 961 SE was that it "sounded like a bag of spanners". Are there any other symptoms you have heard about? I am a little concerned now, since it would be a long drive for me to return my bike to the factory for any warranty work. Frankly, I am a little surprised and disappointed that none of the owners of the first few bikes have posted anything on this site or any other I can find. I have promised to write about mine when I get it, but by then I expect the 961 will be old news.

Please let us know of any updates you hear about on this subject.
