961 moteur cassé

I'm beginning to think it was just a bad batch of springs we had, and not taken as far as a tsb.
The only tsb I find mention of springs is #00006, from Dec 2013. Ive quickly taken a picture of my laptop screen to show whats mentioned there. I dont know if those incorrect length springs were the same one's that were also failing. Ive fired an enquiry over to someone for confirmation though.

Yeah, Norton were never exactly what you would consider as being consistent.
Big bonus though, whilst looking for that I found parts data for parts master ie the info that went into creating parts master, including all rrp's. Downside is they're in part number order, so I'll have to first find the part number via the bill of materials, or the last stock check folder. Some scary numbers in there...Dominator billet heel plates....£254.60 EACH!

Hmmmm I have spare Domi heel plates. Along with some other Domi and commando parts. Maybe I need to cash in
 
Haha well right now prices are all over the place. Some used parts are selling for more than rrp. Then other parts are seemingly mega cheap.....all down to whats needed.

Donc notre ami Tibet.70 serait tombé sur une 961 "à mauvais numéro" (de 2013) avec des ressorts de soupapes déficients ?

My 2013 CR was delivered with bad springs, guides, and rings.
A few weeks after I took delivery, the dealer called and told me the factory informed him that the three 961s that he got probably had out of spec valves, guides, and piston rings, and that the bikes should be collected from the owners for repair.
So I sent my bike back and the work was done under warranty.
Interestingly, there was no manual yet at that time. So Norton sent the dealer photocopied hand written instructions and torque values along with the repair parts.

Effectivement, je confirme par mon mécanicien que les soupapes démontées n'ont pas la longueur préconisée. Mon mécano dit que c'est la raison de l'affolement des soupapes et de la casse moteur. Je vais faire intervenir un expert par mon assurance et voir ensuite si l'importateur de l'époque (PARADISE Paris) a fait cette campagne de rappel ou non. Merci pour vos contributions.
 
I doubt it was a recall, more like a service action ie something done or check whilst disassembled for something else. Norton wouldnt be able to afford a recall on such an item.

Voici les dernières nouvelles. Plusieurs options se précisent.
1/ Paradise Paris propose des pièces d'origines à des prix excessifs.
2/ La nouvelle usine Norton ne souhaite pas vendre les pièces d'origine car ils ne sont pas suffisamment certains de la qualité de leur fabrication... (je les comprends un peu). Ils proposent par contre les pièces 2022 pour mon modèle 2013. La question se pose de savoir si c'est compatible ?...
3/ Thiel Motosport propose des pièces d'occasion et de mettre 2 pistons "Mahle".
Je rappelle l'importance de la casse : embiellage, bloc moteur, culasse, piston, soupapes.

Oui, je tiens cet information de la part de mon mécano qui fait ces démarches pour moi. Il ne sait pas encore si la compatibilité est parfaite ou non. Il faudra peut être des ajustements...
 
Donc PARADISE à Paris aurait des pièces disponibles, à des prix élevés ? Il existe donc un stock "dormant" à Paris ? Bonne nouvelle, même si c'est cher !
Et donc, NORTON accepte de te vendre des pièces 2022 (probablement de meilleure qualité que les pièces 2013...). C'est une nouvelle importante, car ça voudrait dire (sous réserves de compatibilité ?) que nous aurions une source de pièces possibles chez NORTON ?
