Which is the utility of this overflowing of the support stator, because for the access to the STARTER SPRAG CLUTCH it is necessary every time to remove the retor.
I don't know what the original idea of the tab actually was but it does mean the rotor has to come off before the outrigger plate can be removed which seems unnecessary and a nuisance.
Sorry , are we talking about grinding a piece from the outrigger plate 06 4708 ? If so could we see a picture so that I can get to work grinding off this tab too ?

@Fanfan26 You have to take the alternator rotor off anyway, as the starter sprag resides inside the engine sprocket.
I am sure the factory didn’t cast the trianglualr tang into the outrigger plate for no reason at all, so what is the point in weakening it by ‘snapping it off with pliers’
If you need to get to the overload/backfire assembly, then whipping the rotor off only takes a couple of minutes anyway.
