I did a search but couldn't find the info anywhere - does anyone know the weight of a stock 850 Crankshaft? I am considering having it aligned to eliminate some runout but will need to carry it from Mexico to the US in May and am just trying to determine if carrying it in my check-in luggage is reasonable/possible. I guess I could pack/box it up separately as a 2nd carry-on if it wont fit in my suitcase but again, I would like to know the approximate weight.

Thanks

At that weight I would bubble wrap it ,then wrap it in my favorite newspaper Alarma and check it in as luggage noting that most carriers have a max.around 40 to 42 lbs. now and hit you hard for every lb. over. That's how the carriers make the money nowadays. Check.

Check with airlines and also customs and well blunt the crank ends. This is shop that saved Ms Peel crank so bent after building everyone in Norton-doom and rest of cycle world told me it was un-recoverable loss but now just .002" off and good enough to race with, so I'm told by Canaga. Might consider cryo temper after wards as main expense is shipping and likely a bunch of cryo places on Left Coast starting to glow more and more with radiation from US dumping and Japan endless leak down. Bearings too and cam and lifters and vales.
