850 crankcase oil leak

Hi All, my 850 is leaking oil when running from (it looks like) the rear crankcase joint between the 1st & 2nd bolts, it also seems as if there are some hairline cracks there as well(may be scratches) is this a common fault please?

I don't hink it's a common fault. have you tried carefully tightening the 2 case bolts?

Unless someone cranked the snot out of the engine mounting bolts, cracks are not common. The crankcase joint on my 850 leaked just a bit in the front for years, I think it was just a void in the factory sealing compound.

Well one thing to research is the endless discussions on breathers/PCV. That might be a place to start.
