I pulled the head on my '72 combat engine to check valve seals and exhaust guides. Notice the valve seats are receding and the exhaust are a bit pitted. Anyone have experience having the seats replaced...cost?...what material?

Mike Crowther at Engine Dynamics Company (EDCO) in the Bay area does a good job of that sort of head work.

You might want to talk to him about materials. I use aluminum bronze seats from Kibblewhite, but there are certainly plenty of other options.

Had mine done in the late '70s early '80s. Sent it to Jerry Branch in California. Don't know if he is still alive but he did a nice job. Just valve seat inserts and 3 angle seat cut.

I had made a little wood shipping crate out of pine and nailed together that just fit the head. Young and dumb. Got head back OK with couple pieces of wood left! Wasn't aware of sheet rock screws back then.
