How much angle up do foot pegs have or are they flat across mine seem to be 14 inches from ground to center of rubber while on center stand but I think mine may be bent . Thanks

They would normally be flat (horizontal).

Thanks mine have a slight upturn so I guess they need to be tweeked down a tad the pegs seem straight so it must be the chrome pieces. If you roll the pegs on a flat surface they roll without any hop.

You can take the pegs off? I think at least the early ones were all one piece, but when I got mine whoever had it before ground them off (on the ground?) and drilled them out and replaced them with threaded pegs. At least that's what I remember, I may have ground them off and replaced them. Anyway, mine are pretty much parallel to the ground.

When I was younger, I would take the pegs to the pavement on the corners (but not like hobot). Not now, it's too scary. Bad dreams at night.

My factory Combats started out with them sticking straight out level. Factory peg position is generally terrible for most people but do work well at slower drops to protect bike paint but can bend-twist and even ding indent into cases. Not a bad idea to carry a bolt to fit just in case. Usually can work out the stub. Center stand fouls first on LH in a stocker and on RH the peg end. Pretty as the long art deco stalks are they are a bummer for long haul or lean clearance if risking THE HInge. You might be able to straighten out the stalk but may risk splintering the chrome. I don't think its cheating on my factory Trixie to install rear sets for comfort and lean safety but when me toes touch on rear sets that about enough for me on un-tamed isolastics.

Ok a '75 cross dresser but didn't they come with pegs sticking straight out too? If so somethings is askew then what ya do?

My pegs point up a bit as they are bent where I lean the bike on itd side to clean underneath or carry out work on it.
Also at the moment its resting on the pegs on 2 piles of bricks while I have the forks in bits, this will bend them up even more.
I must admit I am thinking of fitting some modern sprung pegs that rise up like my Honda to stop them grinding on tight bends.
My commando does seem to lean over quite well. Must be the roadriders giving me confidence.
cheers Don

Mk111Dan, My left footrest bends up slightly and is 14.5" from the floor to middle of the footrest rubber when on the centre stand, and my right footrest sits very nearly level with just a slight rise and is 13.75" to the centre of the rubber from the floor. It looks like maybe my left footrest is slightly bent upwards

Don, I'm pleased to see you've got the enthusiasm up to do those forks :D

Hi R. Yes, they are in the hands of JB now. Hopefully they will be done for the may ride in the dales. If you ride a Norton but have never riddden through the yorkshire dales then you have not lived. Its what Nortons were made for. Cheers Don

I agree. I have 72-74 bikes and they have a slight upward slope. I think it’s for when you stand on your bike when going over bumps and railroad crossings your feet will have a natural tendency to stay on the pegs and not splay out. I have repaired a number of the right hand shift foot peg assemblies and that is what I have discovered. The 75's I can't comment on.

I know this is a very old post but I was researching if my Mark III foot pegs should be horizontal or pointed upward and I wasn't sure from the answers to this post. My pegs roll true when removed but point upward about 10 degrees from horizontal when mounted. I can't imagine that the cast/forged mount can twist that much but maybe so. It has always mystified me how the motorcycle industry has had a one size fits all attitude in design. The only adjustment for rider size is adjustable mirrors. Although I think the Atlas I had years ago had adjustable foot pegs.

Before I send any footpegs of any sort out for powder coating or plating I check the fit and bend for a 2 or 3 degree uplift, I find helps to keep the feet on the pegs. With them flat or dropped at all it feels like my feet are continually moving outwards. Never had to touch the footpegs on my 74 and they have the slight bend upwards both sides.
