Looks like the Z plate is nice and clear of the swing arm on my bike. Also looks like its time for me to look into re-routing the cable!

That's correct and how I have mine now. It's now apparent to me, by referencing the Norton parts list catalog during reassembly many years ago, I double stacked them (temporarily?) on the nut side of the bolts, likely with intentions to follow up later. Not this late.... You'll like the new placement of the cable now, over the Z plate and back side of the muffler mount.
