Yep y'all did this. Thank you. You know who you are.
You have no idea how long I have been at this. I can't explain how it feels. It's a wonderful feeling when it comes to life isn't it?
Exactly. Clutch is up next, kinda hard to pull. I pulled the clutch, popped it in 1st and the back wheel spins like the clutch is out. Probably siezed plates. Also need a wiring harness right now it's hotwired straight to the Boyer box.Nice.
How's the weather where you are, for a test ride?
I don't see a project thread, so I suppose this was just a "reawakening" that had several separate tech question threads?
If properly adjusted, it may just be oil on the plates causing drag, especially if it's not had a good thrashing for a while. Mine had done very few miles for 7 years, before I bought it. I had a heavy lever and some drag. My clutch hub was particularly notched, so I replaced it, cleaned the plates, lubed the cable and adjusted the clutch and all was fine.Exactly. 10-4 thanks. Gonna clean them regardless. Bike was sitting since 1991 when I bought it earlier this year.If properly adjusted, it may just be oil on the plates causing drag, especially if it's not had a good thrashing for a while. 'one-use tool'Thanks sir. I'll use it then put it in my big drawer of one-use tools that I go through occasionally and say "what the heck was this for?"
Don't attempt it without itThanks sir. I'll use it then put it in my big drawer of one-use tools that I go through occasionally and say "what the heck was this for?"
I'll order it. I don't trust my fledgeling metalworking skills.Don't attempt it without it
Also very easy to make with a bit of tube, flat bar , studding and nuts
Forgive me if you are aware of this - Never use kerosene ( paraffin across the pond )to clean the clutch plates .I'll order it. I don't trust my fledgeling metalworking skills.
I didn't know that. Why?Forgive me if you are aware of this - Never use kerosene ( paraffin across the pond )to clean the clutch plates .
Kerosene is oil and will permeate the friction material causing slippage . Use gasoline (petrol )or a solvent formulated specifically for this purpose .I didn't know that. Why?
