73 850 air cleaner front plate

The air cleaner front plate on the 73 850 can that be polished? I want it like chrome . Or should I send it to be chromed?

My '71 plate is steel. I believe all front plates were painted silver until the MKIII air cleaners came along. Some people have had 'em chromed.

'69 -'70 'S' models were chromed. All others were painted steel (except plastic MkIIA and MkIII)
If you want it chrome, chrome it! It's your bike!
