72/73 Roadster Fuel Tank Detailing

Hi Gents
I'm about to have my 72 (build year) Roadster tank & side covers resprayed, am i correct there was no fuel tank or side cover pin striping... Just Norton on the tank & 750 Commando on the side covers?
And is this the same for the 73 model?
I have seen both and cant make my red wine saturated mind up :)
Would some one be able to post 72 & 73 model year Brochures that show both?

Keep it original?
Or does the 73 striping look better?
Does look good with the purple flake!

Caution, the brochures don't seem to tell the whole story. For instance, the 71 brochure shows the Roadster with the lines often seen on 750s 71-73. The 72 brochure doesn't seem to show show the Roadster tank and the 73 brochure shows the 850 Roadster with the 850 pin stripes and doesn't show the 750 Roadster at all.

I do the 71-73 750 Roadsters like the 71 Brochure and the 73/74 850 Roadsters like the 73 and 74 brochures and the 75 Roadster like the 75 brochure - no idea if that is "right".

In ‘73 there were separate brochures for 750 and 850. This is the 750.
In ‘72 only the black gas tanks had a ”D” single stripe in gold. All other colors had no pin striping with the exception of the Interstate tank.

Exactly what I mean. The link showed only one Roadster brochure in 73 and that was for an 850. The 72 brochure doesn't show a Roadster tank with lines and doesn't show a black Roadster tank at all. In other words, the brochures in the link have little value in answering the OP. If you have the 73 750 brochure, I would love a copy.

I used to be indecisive... and not I'm not so sure
Gold Norton with black edging for sure, but i don't think the black pin striping goes
I'm leaning towards no stripping at the moment
I will have a chat with FD motorcycles on Wednesday to see if once the purple is applied & not lacquered i can view the tank with some black & gold stripping laid on

None of the metalflake schemes had pinstripes in '72 - just 2-colour graphics.
The 850 Roadsters in Fireflake Blue and Golden Bronze had silver pinstripes, but AFAIK those were the only ones.

Although this is the '72 Fireflake blue (for my Combat) I think the purple should have the same graphics?



And here's a purple one (for a '71) in progress - it takes a lot of lacquer to smooth out the flakes, so still some way to go...
