650 Superlight

Bike sounds awesome!
Have you all heard the video or just see the picture?

I heard the vid, sounds good. They didn’t seem to let it rev out tho, would like to have heard it on full chat !

I guess it’s never gonna sound as good as the V4 though. Heard one of those on the dyno there last year, I know they like to start them up and blip them at bike shows etc, but under load on full chat they sound simply incredible.

I suspect the sound we listen for is the sound of horsepower being made.
I saw a TV speed show where several big capacity 1960s North American high powered V8s were run on a dyno.
There was a 396 GM, 409 GM, 427 Ford side oiler, 426 Chrysler Hemi and others.
Long before the dyno numbers were shown you could accurately guess the horsepower just from the sound.
The 409 sound great but the 426 Hemi sounded like it could eat the 409 as an appetizer. The dyno agreed!

In another thread, there’s an article where Peter Hickman who is riding a SL at this years TT said:

"I had a chance to get a close look at the Superlight over the weekend, and it felt really good. It actually fits me really well, it’s narrow – which is good – but I’m 6ft2in and I could tuck in really well, which is really important”.

So it obviously isn’t as petite as it looks in that clip.

Phew !

650 Superlight
Wonder who’s getting this one

Good write-up by Cathcart in 'Real Classic' about Mr Garners vision for Norton and his take on the modern v's retro future in the company.
