50th anniversary Cafe Racer

Raphi, I specified the carbon chaingaurd, the aniversary CR comes with a chrome guard as standard and that didn’t sit too well with my ideas for a blacked out look!

Yeah, the Dominator mudguard isn’t my cup of tea, it’s form over function to my eyes, lots more components, lots more fasteners, more weight, and no protection for the stanchions.

I found the factory to be really quite accommodating with my requests for differences.

Yeah, mines a ‘68 Bonnie, yours is too is t it? Definitely THE year for Bonnies. And that’s not IMHO. It’s a fact!

‘69 frame and ‘71 engine. For me it is a’70 Bonnie, cause it matches my vintage...

Very nice! You even have the carbon chain guard...
Didn’t notice until now that they changed the design of the front mudguard. Me too, I prefer the old style!

The front mudguard on the 50th model is from the domiracer, a nice piece or architecture if you ask me so have to disagree about that part.

By the way fast eddie and manx, when you go for a spin, just have the ignition key on the key fob, don't have security device keys flapping about, the put minor scratches on the polished domiracer yoke

Gottit, goose = guzzi

Bought new 2013, love it actually, runs great, sounds great with my pipes. Fitted some rizoma parts too.

Thanks Ken!

Right boys n girls... let’s play ‘spot the turn signals’...!

At least when Norton fitted the LEDs they obviously fitted the right relay for the job, so I can change them for others with having fast / slow flashing issues.

Fitting these obviously made me explore the rear end, I can tell you that the underseat area on these Euro 4 bikes is rather busy, I can fully understand why the factory want nothing to do with fitting single seats to these bikes. It would be quite an undertaking I think.

Anyway, waddya think to my (almost) invisible turn signals? Just gotta do similar to the front now.

They are tiddlers aren't they, hard to see on the first picture but presume nice and bright once on. Would they pass an MOT being so small.

I am tempted by the tail tidy I saw somewhere on the net but need to reign my spending in for now. Also some lovely bar end led indicators I saw at the NEC show by Oberon parts.

So you bought yours from the Norton factory, they sourced for you or did you give to them to fit. I cannot see them close up but they look quality

So, forks look stacks better with the bloody reflectors removed! And, just look at that lovely sleek one piece front mudguard sans scaffold poles ;) !

And I fitted the none pillion footrest / exhaust hanger brackets which clean up the rear view a tad.

The stock footrest / exhaust hanger arrangement is kinda crying out for a sleek aftermarket rear set arrangement IMHO.

Where are Norton putting the return oil line check valve now ? I do not see yours !

Nigel. That is probably the nicest 961 I've seen to date. You've got that set up beautifully. If you have running issues, my heart is going to sink.

Tony,

It's possible that they've dispensed with the external valve and rely only on the valve that is pressed into the pump body on the inner face of the pump housing.
Perhaps the new pumps have integrated the valve to the pump itself.
When I saw my oil-in-the-airbox fix kit and spoke to the mechanic installing it, I did think that having both an internal and external valve seemed like overkill.

Return side , Not feed side. The check valve that stops the back flow through the oil tank/oil cooler side. Did Norton put a check valve into the pump body for the return side as well ? Can somebody ask Norton ?
