Sally and I celebrated our 25th anniversary with an extra-long weekend in the Texas "Highland Lakes" area last week.

We loaded up a bike to ride, and another to be delivered to a client, and left our younger daughter off with our older daughter so we could "travel light".

Friday, Fredricksburg - climbed "Enchanted Rock" in 100+ degree heat (yes, we made it to the top). Very tasty authentic German Shnitzel for lunch, a 60s, 70s & 80s rock-n-roll show by a very talented band of performers, and some really fine Tuna steak with asparagus for dinner.

Saturday, Marble Falls - Authentic Italian food for lunch, water skiing on Lake LBJ with a hired boat & driver (remembered I have tired old shoulder & leg muscles), and some grilled seafood for dinner.

Sunday, Burnet - rode out to Longhorn Cavern and did the tour, rode around Inks Lake and Lake Buchanan. Lunch at Shlotzky's. Rode around some more looking for a good swimming hole to take the kids to. BBQ ribs for dinner, washed down with some Pina Coladas; yum.

Monday, General vicinity - Rode around some roads I'd never been on, nice twisties and hills, great lakeside views. Lunch at a mom-n-pop restaurant, had a nice lunch special Ribeye steak and 3 or 4 glasses of iced tea. Picked up all the kids and went to the municipal swimming pool. They have a REALLY nice 1-meter diving board with LOTS of spring. Spent most of the time re-learning how to do dives I hadn't done in 10 years; the flip with a half twist is the only one that came naturally. Dinner at Chili's, bypassed my usual plate full of ribs and went with the Tilapia.

Tuesday - Boring drive home.

I could get to liking living in Marble Falls, very central to the area, and the roads are fantastic for riding. You need to get 20 minutes out for the traffic to thin out, but after that, it doesn't get much better.

Picked up a real nice Norton frame and rear wheel in San Antonio on the way home, now I can build one last rolling project bike for sale from most of my leftover parts.

It doesn't get much better than that. The best part? The entire trip (and all activities) were all SALLY'S idea! Here's shooting for the next 25 years...

It sounds like a great time to me. Congratulations! My wife and I haven't made 25 yet, a couple more years.
