$20K BAT MKIII

Ultra-rare backwards pinstriping adds $10,000 easy.

Never mind the Mikuni carb, the ad CLEARLY states dual Amal carbs.

Actually I think that backwards pinstriping on the bike it THE ONLY one ever done that way. Now THAT is RARE!!!!

So the bidding jumped from $7K to $20K?

Dude's got play money, and REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wants those only-one-of-their-kind reverse pinstripes.

Did anyone catch:

“The bike is titled by the number 850F128092 stamped on the frame.”

Yes. So, it was re-titled at some point in time, because EVERY other MkIII I have ever heard of was titled per the matching numbers on frame TAG, engine, and transmission.

both my MKIII and the JPN are titled by the 850F frame numbers, but the last digits on my MKIII match the data plate and engine. The JPN does not

OK, I'm now convinced. If a rider-class MK3 can fetch $20k, then my like new bikes at $13k are WAY underpriced. Make no mistake, that bike is no better in my book than a rider-class, non-standard bike. The tank and side covers are painted wrong, the cylinders have rust, it has a Mikuni carb, a messy electrical system, an ugly console, no turn signals, and that's just from a 30-second look. It's no wonder that cNw was able to fetch $30k-$50k for bikes if that mess went for $20k!

So, now what, start asking $25k for the bikes I build? Or maybe the reason I have trouble selling them for $13k is that I should be asking $30k!

The like-new 1970 Bonneville I have is now $26k since there is no interest at $13k - maybe people think it is not worth it since it's so cheap!

:D

Bring A Trailer is "THE" place to sell classic bikes. They would rarely fetch HALF as much on e-bay.

PERIOD.

The high bidder's profile shows April '24 join date, has made 68 bids, won 6, and looks to win this one. Interesting.

No doubt and no doubt I could get more there too. But, I do have to live with myself and I feel bad enough charging what I do, especially to forum and club members. If I still sold on eBay, no doubt they would sell easily - every bike I ever sold there went for more than I expected and they all sold the first time I listed them.

I STARTED to list a very nice resto/mod on BAT, but I was informed that only THEIR staff could do the actual write-up.

"Never mind"

There is a lot of info on that page, for those truly interested in due diligence. 💡

I went to CNW site and looked. Yes, "reversed", but never with the lower stripe slanting across the sidecover.
This is how I purposefully did it on one of my bikes
