I imagine they think it’s too close to call, and as things need organising way ahead, they thought they had to call it this way.
 
We apparently have the vaccine in the States awaiting approval and then administration.
 
Same here. We have the so called ‘Oxford’ version. We’ve also ordered more of others.

It’s great news for everybody, no question.

But regarding the original post, the point is that getting it made, and distributed, and administered, is gonna take some time given the unprecedented numbers involved.

Well the US of A should be a good testing ground as you guys really need it badly, new vaccines takes years of testing before its distributed, this vaccine has been rushed and only a few months of testing, the virus has shown it can mutate and change and only time can tell if the vaccine will have to change as well, so far the test has been good news but its still not 100% and that will take years before they know what will happen or if the virus will change with a different strain, who knows as its all a guessing game at the moment, we are lucky in AUS and NZ as we are so far from the rest of the world and has been a lot easier to control the spread.

When you expose a whole population to a cure, you also expose them to the risks. That is why, in Australia chest X-rays are no longer universally compulsory to check for TB.
 
I feel sorry for all the Mann people who loose a lot of their income from the races.
 
I'm sure it was a tough call to make but the time is right. Lots of logistics with flights, ferries and accommodation need to be made months in advance. Now know where they stand and can plan for 2022.
 
For some folks they need to plan a year or more ahead of time to make it to an event like this. Obviously if you live in somewhere like Ireland it's relatively easy to plan for. If you're in Adelaide it might be a little more difficult.
