1st Kick

Although I do subscribe to above post ..... mostly my similar setup ‘72-750 starts same as original post , 2 prime swings , then key on choke off , kick and lights right up , even after the 3 month winter sleep ... still get nervous when someone unknown to me waits to see me start up because they loved those bikes back in the day .....

Joe Hunt maggie, mine starts first kick every time, first kick for the day is a full swing on the kicker and anytime after that it fires up on 1/2 a swing on the kicker, where ever I park while out on it there is always a crowd watching and hear a few voices saying " wonder how many kicks" they get a big surprise when I am sitting on the seat and just give it a kick and it fires straight up, but then I been kicking it for over 45 years, when it had the original points in it was always a first or second kicker or more when the points need work and longer it the advance unit was playing up, been through 3 E ignitions in it life, but so far the JH throws out the best spark and has never failed to start on first kick even after sitting for some time, as long as the fuel hasn't gone off.

Does anyone remember c starting his bike by pushing the kick start lever with his hand?
Yes! when first setting my TriSpark, now that was a fright. My old Commando she's called Natasha by the way, has a wicked sense of humour. She will usually refuse to start in front of a crowd. The only exception is when my mate who runs Japanese classics boasts to everyone how hard she is to start and boom she start first kick. I dare not say anything disparaging about her or she'll bide her time and get me when I'm least expecting.
Has anyone else got one like this?

There was a Television advertisement, when I was a child, of a 'strong man' starting a Norton with his hand. Might have been on Johnny Carson or another talk show.
Maybe Jack Parr.
Does anyone else remember??

Well 3 weeks sitting and it fired off on 2nd.... died 10 sec. later... tickle & kick again. Ran rough for about 1.5 min. If I ride daily it'll go 1st or 2nd until another sleep period.... You guys started this and made me wake the beast and now there shall be a puddle as payback.

I guess I'm going to have to try mine one of these days. I'm impressed at 77 you still ride. I really don't feel like it. But I'm sure I could start it. We'll see.

My worn out Norton Jubilee was easy to start by hand.

Strange, all my British bikes have been like that!

Just happened the other evening. Went for a burger run, alone.
Went to leave, kick, kick kick..... Noticed a car had pulled in behind me, they were LOOKING.....
Car left, bike fired..........

Quite obvious that they were looking too hard and sucking the fun and energy out of your mighty steed. A wise purchase is a lightweight easily carried cover to be removed just prior to cranking up to prevent another occurrence. Fun suckers are everywhere.

Actually I believe aging slows down after 70. I don’t feel much different at 77 then I did it at 70. Thank the Lord.

Hmmm, so I've already hit rock bottom then. Cool I should be good for another 100.
