1976 Tiger idle jet

I am getting close to being done getting a 1976 750 Tiger back up and running. The 930 Amal that I have with the bike is missing the idle jet that screws into the bottom of the carb body. Anybody know where I can get one?

The pilot jet of your carb would normally the pressed-in 'bush' type, not screw-in. If you remove the pilot air screw you should be able to see if the small pilot jet (RH photo) is there? The screw-in jet is mainly intended for 2 strokes, as it doesn't suit some 4 strokes, and I believe that is why they changed to the pilot bush for 4 stroke carbs.

Mark 1 Concentrics are equipped with two types of pilot jets. 2 Strokes use a removable pilot jet which should be replaced if it is damaged or shows signs of oxidisation. 4 Strokes generally use a pressed in bush pilot jet in the gallery behind the pilot air screw.

The carb I have does not have the pressed in jet. The bottom of the carb body in threaded which leads me to think I need the screw in type.

One source would be Amal, however, any good British motorcycle shop in the US should have them, but I will let others advise you on that.

Are you sure the little bush isn't there? They don't just float away.

Even carbs with pressed in jet have the threaded hole for the other type of jet.

I got out my big magnifier and a very bright light last night and looked down the hole. It appears there is a jet in there. But it is very hard to see. Thanks to all who responded.

If your pilot air screw doesn't appear to work, that jet is probably blocked!

You should just be able to push a 0.016" diameter wire, number 78 drill, or 0.4 mm drill bit through that pilot jet if it isn't blocked.
You should be able to push the wire at least 1.5" into the carb body.
