Hi again everyone I hope you have all had a good xmas and have and a happy new year, I have what is almost definitely a repro seat which fits surprisingly well and looks as it should, but it does not have a fitting hole threaded or otherwise for the cable that stops the seat moving to far over on the hinge and as I have never had one on it I have no idea of the proper positioning of it, would someone please be kind enough to post a pic of the seat open showing cable fitting locations at both ends so I can devise a way to implement mine many thanks Chris

I use a bolt with a nylock nut at the frame end but not fully tightened so the check wire can swivel as the seat is opened and closed.

Thanks again for your help L.A.B, and hope you had a good xmas and have a happy and prosperous new year

My mk3 seat retaining wire has been broken at some time in it’s life and or the self tapper threads have stripped. As you can see from the photos attached, the wire is currently shortened to approx 11 1/4’ long (taken from edge seat lock bracket) with terminal lugs soldered on at each end, and the self tapping screw moved accordingly, seat stays open fine and does not hit anything when open. The original check strap might be 12” or so in length?
