Hi,
So I have been looking at the clusters. The one that I think is the left (the normally wired one) has the kill switch on it, but the manual indicates that it should be the right one. This does not bother me, but my other one has five wires out of it. I have taken a picture of it
I suspect that the person that wired it did not have the correct colours, and just used what was at hand. I guess that the colours are as follows:

My cluster Colours on wiring digram
Yellow/Green - Blue/White
Red - Blue/Red
Blue - Blue
Purple - Purple/Black
Black - White

I only guessed these as It seemed the most logical way of doing it, but I have taken a picture to see if anyone knows if I am correct by looking at the way they have been wired. Does anyone have knowledge on this matter? It would really help me out.

Thanks a lot.

This is the left switch cluster on my '72 which would the same for your '71. Left side has five wires for horn (bottom button) high beam flasher (top botton) and high/low switch (center blade). Purple with black stripe is horn.

Some people change the switches around, including me, so that the indicator switch is on the left, where it is more convenient. That may have caused your head scratching.

The switch cluster with the dip switch, horn button and flasher button has five wires. The cluster with kill button, no use button and turn signal switch has six wires. Good way to tell the two apart.
